We are going to organise an international Indian football tournament in
Remscheid, Germany from August 24-25, 2002. The tournament will be
organised under the umbrella of the IFSC (Indian Football Supporter’s Club,
Germany branch). The tournament organisation will be supported by the following
Indian organisations based and working in Germany: www.indianfootball.com (India’s
leading football website), www.theinder.net (Germany’s biggest Indian online
community) and
Whatyaar Entertainment (one of the biggest organizers of Indian party’s and
events in Germany).
The aim of the tournament is to present Indian football in
Germany, while
with the proceeds we would like to help the IFSC to set-up a youth football
project in India and as a matter of fact the tournament can be seen as a charity
event.
The IFSC – International with the proceeds from the tournament would like to
start the setting-up of a football academy to help the development of talented
footballers in India.
As planned so far, four under-16 youth teams would take
part, in matches of
45 minutes duration (22 ˝ minutes per half) against each other in a round robin
league and find a champion. The participating teams are:
A) India (under-17 national team)
B) India (U16 TATA Football Academy)
C) England (U17 - Indian select side)
D) Germany (U17 - IFG select side)
The selected side from Germany is the result of the project “Indian
footballers in Germany” that started in summer 2001 (Initiators: theInder.net
and indianfootball.com). After a procedure of players search, talent scouting
and training an under-16 team has been put together, which will participate in
the tournament.
Besides this we would like to organise a charity
match, which would be
non-competitive and would be held besides the youth tournament. This match would
take place between a senior team of the Indian select side from Germany (also a
result of the “Indian footballers in Germany” project), maybe strengthened
by the one or the other star against another team. This other team could
be a German league team or an Indian select side from the Netherlands or Austria
or some other competitive team.
The Schedule for the weekend:

Ground, so that they can enjoy the tournament. The individual teams as well as
people part of the organisational staff will be provided local lodging. We are
expecting around 50 people being part of the organisation staff, as well as 130
people being part of the participating teams.
We intend to finance the whole tournament with the help of
sponsors, banner
advertising at the grounds, matchday program’s, ticket sales (single and
combined tickets), merchandise, beverages & food.
Public announcements about the tournament will be made through our own
publications as well as the internet, plus the press, radio and if the occasion
arises even through TV.
We understand the whole event as an intercultural project for all
ages, which
is also trying to serve a charitable cause. With this tournament we are trying
to lay the foundation stones for future Indian sporting / football events in
Germany, which we would like to establish here.
We are offering the spectators entertainment and intercultural communication
with the presentation of India one of the main aims, as we are presenting Indian
football in Germany and would like to open doors for other such projects, as we
are trying to intensify the sporting links between India and Germany.
This sporting extravaganza is intended for all
people, of all ages, who are
passionate sports lovers, friends of India and/or love to go to parties.
